Jason Sim - 2009 Fibreboard Packaging Apprentice of the Year

Jason Sim of Amcor Cartons Australasia in Christchurch was delighted to receive the 2009 Fibreboard Packaging Apprentice of the Year Award at the PrintNZ Training Apprentice Awards Breakfast on 18 June.Image

Jason was one of seven category award winners to receive awards at the breakfast, which was attended by more than 70 people at Sky City Convention Centre in Auckland.

The day before the Apprentice Awards Breakfast, Jason attended an interview panel who were tasked with the difficult decision of choosing the overall Apprentice of the Year. While Jason didn't take the overall title, he can be very proud of his achievements to date.

Jason says he has always been a hands-on person.

“At school I was interested in technical drawing, art and metal work. On a school visit to a printing company I was fascinated by the machinery and how it worked. Having left school with no formal qualifications I feel extremely overwhelmed to have not only completed my apprenticeship but to have won the packaging award.

“My career goals are to initially become a supervisor and then move into corporate management. Ultimately I would like to be in the position to be able to see every job completed on time every time for the customers and the company.”
